What a sweet story: this pretty farm in Alentejo, Portugal, has been the property of Catarina and Tozé’s father and his wife for several years and last year, Catarina and Tozé decided to get involved and to transform it into an agroturismo with style.

This is not to say that you won’t be well treated, on the contrary. There is a nice outdoor pool, a buffet breakfast and bikes to borrow to explore the region.

Inside the style is this combination of white chalk, rotin lamps, warm wood and soft linens that I love and that is particularly suited to big heats.

Cucumbi is located at a village named Barrancão, an isolated village with only 50 habitants. Slow life takes all its meaning here as the baker delivers bread only 3 times a week and a grocery shop pops up once a week. A small bar gather old men everyday for a beer or a chat.

Reading the description, that reminds me of my grandparents’village in France. I can still feel the sense of peace that I experienced there because of everything being just slowed down and dictated by the rythm of nature
